Tina Fey as Sara Palin [video]

Here's a good/full version of the skit, featuring Tina Fey as Sara Palin and Amy Poeler as Hilary Clinton.

Regardless of your personal opinions on social issues (we can agree to disagree, and still attempt to respect each others beliefs) I find it scary to think a that many conservatives are willing to suspend common sense when it comes to Palin.

Facts. She doesn't believe global warming is real. She doesn't know what the "Bush Doctrine" is. She was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party which since the 70's has been pushing to secede from the rest of the United States. This is just the tip of the iceberg and I won't bother to go through her questionable/hypocritical stances on social issues here.

But I must say this.. Expecting that she should be handled with kid gloves, just because she's a woman, plays in to the very stereotypes professional women have been attempting to shake off for years. Painting her as the victim when she is confronted with tough, fair, serious questions also ridiculous. You can't have it both ways.

Please exercise your right to vote. I am positive that the youth vote (or lack thereof) will be the deciding factor during this election season.

evs interview(s) [youtube]

Besides being one of the nicest human beings, evs is also one of the most underrated artists around. I was always a big fan of his beats (back in the halcyon days of atak/tape trading/and b-boy summits), but have grown to appreciate his raps just as much.

We were excited to find these videos via evs myspace page. Do check out his page and buy a copy of Convenience Store if you are in a position to. It features a classic LA2thebay sound. He just posted a brand new song entitled "No Wonder." His new album will feature production by gaslampkiller, 10shun, egadz, along with a few big surprises.

Interviewed by DJ DOPESHOES (Access)

This was a great interview which covers a lot of the history of how the Convenience Store came together as a group.

Interviewed by Mane One

Part 2 focuses on evs' creative process and discusses his newest project, Convenience Store, with Neila and Tommy V.

Mestizo - ELECHOLO EP [free download]

[ apropos to nothing, i'm way behind on updating the photo gallery ]

We've been looking forward to Mestizo's new album ELECHOLO for a minute now. It explores new electronic territory with beats from D-styles, Megasoid, Lazer Sword, and more. I believe the full release will be available soon on 2mex's, Team 2mex imprint. Mestizo is generously serving up a free downloadable EP version via his myspace page.

I just put up the Elecholo EP for download and also one joint off my new mixtape “Hard Times” mixed by Kip Killagain. Lots of ruff mixes and underground ground style recordings.

Enjoy I’d rather put all my music out for free, but some times it just don’t work out like that.

Goto to get the jurnts.

Giants of Science vs. Labwaste

Remember last weeks post about the Giants of Science project? Well recently, Gino posted a short addendum which puts it all in to perspective. He also mentions a new b-sides project he has on deck with Exist. If you got something out of the free digital download drop a comment here.

"we just did that shit. it was a time where I was doing CD-R albums every time I wanted to buy a weed sack, so there was always material laying around. we did 11-12 songs, but those were the only ones I liked enough to give away. these aren't the type of records that you can compare to each other because the "periods" for them were differentiated by equipment, not time. delete the elite, giants of science, my big sis is, lost love stays lost, I'm always recovering and YDH were all done in the same 5 year span, but on different recording equipment. my beat style switched once I got protools, that where all the chopped up shit came from. when I had to re-record YDH in 2004, lost love came from the outtakes. I had beats lying around from that time period and chris heard some open ones he liked and we did the tracks. these were sitting in my harddrive for years before I decided to follow people's advice and give them away. chris probably doesn't even remember these songs! I'm going to do the same with the 2-3 my big sis (me and xist) songs when I have the time to peep them out. this was seriously period piece fun time music, don't compare it to shit that came out to de-mystify it. oh yeah, english league is like 98-99 or something. totally different scenarios."
